DuPage staff works to support Head Start families displaced by burst pipe

We’re proud of our Early Learning staff and families for showing true resilience over the past few weeks!

Our DuPage Center’s St. Andrews Head Start location suffered extensive damage recently due to a burst pipe and subsequent flooding that took place. These children and teachers have now been displaced for at least a month and have had to once again pivot to virtual services – but our staff is working together to support them.

“I can’t tell you in words how proud I am of this remarkable group of teachers,” shares Darby Pool, Associate Director of Early Learning. “Nothing stops them!”

Darby shares staff have worked with our food vendor to prepare food bags for children and their families, while teachers are not only putting together learning activity kits for the kids, but also ensuring these packages are individually dropped off at their homes! While the classrooms remain closed, staff are also working to plan home visits and group socialization events.
