Mpower the Night featured a unique, open conversation on violence prevention
Most successful event yet “Mpowered” children and families; Northern Trust honored
CHICAGO (November 20, 2020) – Supporters of Metropolitan Family Services’ most successful “Mpower the Night” yet gathered virtually to benefit children and families across greater Chicagoland. The event took place from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020, with ABC 7’s Samantha Chatman as moderator of a three-part conversation exploring the realities of violence prevention and the reasons to feel hopeful about peace.
The program shared the perspectives of those directly involved in the conflicts our city faces about what resources are needed to establish and maintain peace. Attendees heard from members of rival street organizations in the Austin and Roseland communities, as well as leaders of city-wide street outreach initiatives including Vaughn Bryant and Bo Deal of Metropolitan Peace Initiatives and Jalon Arthur of Chicago CRED.
Metropolitan Family Services honored Northern Trust with its Legacy Award, accepted by Michael G. O’Grady, Chairman, President and CEO of Northern Trust.
Event proceeds benefit multiple Metropolitan Family Services’ programs and services, which empower Chicago-area children and families to learn, to earn, to heal, and to thrive.
Thanks go to Gala Chair Scott Swanson, President of PNC Bank Illinois, as well as the event’s sponsors and Host Committee, whose generous support makes Mpower the Night possible. For more information, visit www.metrofamily.org/events/mpower-the-night.
