Metropolitan Calumet chairs a Day of Service at Rainbow PUSH

On Saturday, October 10, 2020, Metropolitan Family Services Calumet was honored to chair a Day of Service at the headquarters of Rainbow PUSH, led by Calumet Community Board Member Derrick Taylor, of the Black McDonald’s Operators Association of Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and Tyronne Stoudemire of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Staff and neighbors joined our honorary chairs, Derrick and Tyronne, to help beautify Rainbow PUSH’s headquarters – and our orange “Mpowered Families VOTE” shirts helped raise awareness for the importance of using our voices in the upcoming election!

“Rainbow PUSH has a legacy of strengthening communities, empowering individuals and addressing social problems,” shared Audrena Spence, Executive Director of Metropolitan Calumet. “Rev. Jesse Jackson, Jr. has dedicated his life to championing these causes, as a voice for people who are most often not heard.  The Day of Service event was an opportunity for us to give back to an organization that gives so much on a daily basis, and to celebrate Rev. Jackson’s birthday.”

We are grateful for the kindness and generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of volunteers from our partnering organizations and businesses! Everyone who participated contributed to the success of the event; together we achieved our goal of beautifying and improving the Rainbow PUSH headquarters.
