Fun & Learning at Early Childhood Collaboration’s Family Day of Play

Our DuPage Center’s Early Childhood Collaboration recently held its annual Family Day of Play with nearly 250 children, parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, and community members.

Attendees enjoyed a morning of fun and educational activities for young children, including portable museum exhibits and a chance to play on the Fire Department’s fire truck. Community organizations provided resources and information on the importance of early learning and play in children’s growth and development, everything from safety tips from the Fire and Police Departments to information on selecting a preschool. The DuPage County Health Department and Wheaton Lions Club were on hand for dental and vision screenings.

All children received free school supplies, generously donated by Jefferson Early Childhood Center, DuPage Children’s Museum, Warrenville Public Library, Aqua-Tots Wheaton, YWCA, and Lincoln Marsh Natural Area.

Raffle prizes from Oral Health Care Professionals, Wheaton Public Library, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, First Presbyterian Preschool, Loaves and Fishes, National Louis University, U of I Extension, Aqua-Tots Wheaton and Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwestern Indiana

Thank you to our sponsors at Jewel Osco for helping to make this event our best one yet, to Community United School District 200 for hosting, and to the Collaborative’s Parent and Family Engagement Subcommittee for all the planning hours that went into this event!
