Domestic Violence Awareness Month at Metropolitan Calumet
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and our Calumet Center will be participating with activities including a movie night and candlelight vigil, panel discussion and basketball game between the 5th District CAPS office and youth, and our annual purple hat brunch.
Our Calumet Center kicked off its Domestic Violence Awareness Week in Altgeld Gardens with a rally in support of domestic violence victims and survivors.
The Jobs PLUS program partnered with the 5th District CAPS Domestic Violence Subcommittee to hold a march and balloon release for victims and survivors of domestic violence in Altgeld. Many thanks to 5th District Commander Joel Howard, Alderman Anthony Beale’s office, the Chicago Fire Department, and all our other partners and the community residents who joined together in support of educating our community and eradicating domestic violence.
