Who We Are and Who We Serve

Metropolitan Family Services gives hope and opportunity to families. We are human service leaders, dedicated to strengthening low-income, Chicago-area families. Families are the heart of strong communities, and we invest in services to help them reach their full potential.

Metropolitan is Chicago’s first human services agency and reaches more than 53,000 families and individuals annually through seven community centers in the city and suburbs. Our services promote education, economic stability, emotional wellness and empowerment.

Caring Staff

We offer a wide variety of services through our staff which includes social workers and counselors, educators, youth workers and support staff.

Funding

Funding comes from various sources including individuals; businesses; foundations; local, state and federal government agencies; schools; the United Way; and program service fees.

At least 80 cents of every dollar Metropolitan Family Services receives is spent on direct client services.

Fees are assessed on the basis of income and family size.  No one is denied service because of inability to pay. Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance may cover full or partial service costs.
