Metropolitan Family Services DuPage has been serving the DuPage area’s most vulnerable residents for more than 80 years. Located in Wheaton with offices in Naperville, Elmhurst and Woodridge, Metropolitan provides vital programs and services for children, adults and seniors. Metromentors and Head Start, senior caregiver and in-home respite, and counseling and behavioral health are just a few of the services Metropolitan offers to help families in need learn, earn and heal.
At the Gala, community leaders Alexander “Sandy” and Rinda Allison will be presented with the Roger K. Johnson Award in honor of their many years of service to families and communities served by Metropolitan Family Services DuPage.
The Allisons have been residents of Glen Ellyn since 1972. Sandy served on the Metropolitan Family Services DuPage Board for 15 years, and currently is a member of the Associate Board, where he has served for the last 12 years.
Sandy, an attorney who retired in 2003 after working 31 years at Nicor, is active in the DuPage community. He has served as treasurer, vestry member, and junior and senior warden of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and as a member of the Glen Ellyn Library Board of Trustees. Currently, Sandy sits on the board of Central Du Page Pastoral Counseling Center.
Rinda went to law school at age 50 and then joined Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd., where she was an attorney for 17 years. She also has been active in the community with the League of Women Voters, served a term on the Glen Ellyn Village Board and on the Plan Commission for many years.
Rinda and Sandy have three children and seven grandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 5.
