Meet Ana and Yara, one of our DuPage Center’s Early Learning families

“Ana” used to be embarrassed at sign-in time when she took her daughter, “Yara,” to preschool at one of Metropolitan DuPage’s Early Head Start programs. She had trouble with writing and English, and took a long time to write her name on the sign-in sheet.

Our Southeast CILA is re-opening!

After its re-opening was threatened due to delayed site inspections of the state’s facilities, our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) site is furnished and ready!

Members of our DuPage Center’s Head Start and Early Head Start program had the opportunity to attend the National Head Start Association Conference in sunny Anaheim California!

There’s no energy like that of student potential, and the students of Belmont-Cragin School proved it, scientifically! Belmont-Cragin School, our North Center’s Community Schools partner, hosted a science fair through Energizing Student Potential, a hands-on, STEM-focused energy program.

Week of the Young Child: DuPage Center celebrates with STEM!

Last week, our DuPage early childhood programs participated with several local and national programs, including our Early Childhood Education partners in the city, in celebration of the Week of the Young Child!

In a grand slam of a collaboration, Walgreens and Huggies are teaming up with former Cubs catcher David Ross to help families in need around the country – Metropolitan’s North Center included!

North Center distributes books to Head Start kids thanks to ABC, Disney, and FirstBook

Thanks to Magic of Storytelling, a partnership between Disney and FirstBook, our North Center recently received 600 new books for the children in our Head Start and early learning programs!

Legal Aid Society joins ACLU and 20 other public interest groups in opposing city nuisance ordinance

Metropolitan’s Legal Aid Society is proud to join the Shriver Center, ACLU of Illinois, and 20+ other public interest groups in urging the City of Chicago to repeal its “chronic illegal activity premises ordinance”, which harms survivors of domestic violence and persons with disabilities.

The statistic that adults with intellectual disabilities are sexually abused at a rate 7 times higher than the general adult population, as described in the first of a series on WBEZ/NPR is unacceptable to the Adult Protective Services Program at our Evanston/Skokie Valley Center.

Introducing Communities Partnering 4 Peace

As violence dominates conversations about Chicago, we are proud to partner with eight community organizations on an initiative focused on promoting peace. The collaboration, called Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), engages nine of the city’s highest-risk neighborhoods.
