Groupon Grassroots Partners with Metropolitan Family Services for “Science for Tots” – April 23 – 29

Groupon Grassroots (http://grassroots.groupon.com), the philanthropic arm of Groupon, and Metropolitan Family Services, one of the Chicago area’s most established providers of programs to help low-income families, announce the launch of “Science for Tots,” a local campaign to purchase digital microscopes for Metropolitan’s two Children’s Centers and Head Start facility.

The Science for Tots campaign will be available on the Groupon Chicago Groupon Grassroots page beginning on Monday, April 23, 2012 and running through Sunday, April 29, 2012.

Utilizing Groupon Grassroots’ collective action model, Groupon subscribers can pledge support for Science for Tots in increments of $10, with each $150 providing a digital microscope for one of the Children Centers or the Head Start facility.

The digital microscopes will bring the wonders of science alive for kids by allowing for real-time display on computer screens, enabling multiple students to view details at the same time. With a connected computer wired to a projector, entire classrooms can participate.

100% percent of the Groupon Grassroots campaign proceeds will be used to provide the digital microscopes.
