Child and Youth Development, School-based Services and Violence Prevention help to strengthen the capacities of children and their families to achieve developmental milestones and to obtain the skills needed to make positive choices. Programs promote healthy growth and development, increase problem-solving abilities, promote student achievement and decrease high-risk behaviors. Violence prevention services address key issues such as bullying, domestic violence, teen dating violence and child witnessing of violence.

Counseling and Mental Health Services offer counseling and case management services to families and individuals of all ages. Services build on individual and family strengths and capacity for change and growth, while addressing behavioral problems and developmental needs.

Specific needs related to mental health issues are handled in our specialized Children's and Adult Mental Health programs. Additional services include psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring and crisis intervention.

Child Welfare provides a range of services and supports to children who are wards of the state and families at risk of dissolution. Services help maintain and strengthen children's relationships with their families and within their communities, promoting child safety and permanency of placements, by helping children and families function at the highest possible level.

Employee Assistance Programs provide counseling and management consultation services to help troubled employees create balance in their lives and to enable management to effectively address their employees' personal problems and productivity issues.

Legal Aid Bureau provides legal assistance in the area of family law and elder abuse. The Legal Aid Bureau provides free legal services to protect the elderly against abuse and financial exploitation and to protect victims of domestic violence and offers essential violence intervention programs to help them and their children rebuild their lives.

Services for Older Adults and Their Families support seniors through individual, family and group counseling, case management, and psychiatric services. In addition, support for older adults and their families helps address the challenge of caregiving through counseling and referral services, in-home respite and overnight guest house accommodations. Some services provide support and resources for seniors who are victims of elder abuse and their families. Additional programs provide and mobilize services to maximize the strengths of well-functioning seniors and help them to meet the challenges and opportunities of life's later years.

Community Development helps to create partnerships that increase the community's capacity to sustain healthy families. Activities include community planning, coalition building and public education campaigns around issues such as violence prevention and creating elder-friendly communities.

Social Policy advocates with government, primarily at the state level, for public policies that strengthen families. Activities include policy analysis, coalition building, and lobbying. Our 2005 efforts helped successfully pass legislation for payday loan reform and affordable housing.
