The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) recognizes that there are many emotional and practical issues that affect families with aging parents or other family members. Sometimes these concerns create stress as family members struggle to make decisions with and for their older relatives.
As part of the EAP benefit, the Employee Assistance Network (EAN) offers consultation to family members concerned about an aging parent, with both the aging parent and members of his or her family. Our Senior Services counselors will determine levels of functioning and help families evaluate the need for further specialized services. Senior Services counselors are objective listeners who can guide family members and their older parent in understanding the normal aging process and complications that warrant further attention.
If longer-term planning is needed, referrals for in-home services, adult day care, recreational programs, hospice care, nursing home care, dementia and Alzheimer's assessments, Social Security issues, Medicare issues, counseling and other services will be provided.
