Board Member's Children Make a Gift to DuPage
Meet Joey and Grace. Their mother, Wendy Rubas, is a member of the Metropolitan Family Services DuPage Board of Directors. Like many good mothers Wendy, is teaching her children about how fortunate they are and the importance of giving back. But, Joey and Grace took the lesson a bit further and put what they are learning into action. They made a number of crafts and greeting cards, hosted an open house for neighbors and sold their goods in order to make money to donate to Metropolitan Family Services DuPage. On February 25th they presented their earnings to Metropolitan Family Services DuPage President of the Board, Paul Pyrcik and Executive Director, Theresa Nihill. "We are humbled and honored by the generous donation we have received from Grace and Joey. What a wonderful role model they have in their mother, Wendy."

Birthday Girl Gives Presents to MetroMentors Program
A happy year to a very special young lady, Annastacia Thiel who celebrated her birthday by collecting presents that she donated to the MetroMentors Program at Metropolitan Family Services DuPage.

When Annastacia invited her friends to her birthday celebration she requested that they bring a game, toy or school supplies. She explained that rather than keep the gifts for herself, she would give them to Metropolitan’s MetroMentors Program so they could be enjoyed by children who don’t have as much as she has. On September 23rd, Annastacia her mom and her friend Erica delivered several over flowing bags of books, school supplies, games and toys to the Wheaton office.

“It is so encouraging to see kids this young giving back.” stated Marsha Ndoko, MetroMentors Program Coordinator. “It reinforces the values that we’re trying to teach kids through our programs,” Ndoko went on to say.

Theresa Nihill, Executive Director greeted the group and personally thanked Annastacia, Erica and Mrs. Thiel for delivering the presents. “You set an example for all of us to follow.” Nihill told Annastacia after wishing her a very happy birthday. To learn more about Metropolitan Family Services DuPage, the MetroMentors Program and how you can get involved, call 630-784-4800.
