We are seeking a full-time temporaryParent Child Educators that are fluent in both English and Spanish.
The bilingual parent child educator will report to Early Head Start Education Supervisor or Head Start Education Supervisor.
The bilingual parent child educator will provide EHS or HS services to families in the home. Services include screenings, on-going assessment, referrals and follow-up for medical, dental and mental health services, child development and education, and family partnership planning as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Manage a caseload of 10 – 12 families, visiting families weekly for 1 ½ hours.
- Provide, either directly or through referral, early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services that will enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children.
- Ensure that the level of service provided to families responds to their needs and circumstances.
- Promote positive parent-child interactions.
- Provide services to parents to support their role as parents, including parenting skills training and training in basic child development, and services to help the families move toward self-sufficiency.
- Ensure that all Head Start Standard deadlines are met, i.e., screenings, dentals, well-baby visits, etc. and that information is entered in to ChildPLUS.
- In collaboration with Family Service Workers and other Parent/Child Educators, plan and facilitate two socializations sessions each month.
- Develop weekly lesson plans based on needs of the child.
- Ensure that all information is entered into ChildPlus on a weekly basis.
- In collaboration with HS Parent/Child Educators or Center-based Teachers, and Family Support Workers, develop a transition plan for children transitioning to Head Start or kindergarten.
- Assist in planning for Parent Education activities and orientation to the program.
- Participate in monitoring ChildPLUS to ensure accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Meet all timelines and reporting requirements.
- Follow all MFS staff policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree in ECE, Child Development, or a related field. -
Early Head Start, Infant-Toddler or Head Start experience desired. -
Experience working with low-income families. -
Ability to interact effectively with adults and young children. -
Good written and verbal communication skills, with a basic knowledge of computers
